Family Farms
Having identified the Norwegian/Scandinavian ancestors and the places where they lived, we can offer the unique service of personally bringing you to the actual place in Scandinavia. We will arrange for you to go inside the buildings so that you can literally walk in your forefathers' footsteps.
When you arrive in Norway, our combined driver/guide/ translator will meet you at the airport and drive you to all the farms/houses and small towns from which your ancestors came. Of course, sometimes the houses your forefathers left behind will have disappeared many years ago, but in many cases the houses and even furniture remain in more or less the same fashion as they were when your ancestors left them some 100 years ago.
In Norway, farms have traditionally been passed down through the family, generation upon generation, so the chance is great that you may find some of your relatives living at your ancestral farm today. If we have traced living unknown relatives elsewhere, we can also arrange for you to meet them where they live.
Norwegian Adventures will tailor the research and the trip to your individual needs - you decide how much you are prepared to commission in accordance with the degree of the research required, and you decide what we look for and where and whom you visit.
After you have seen and been acquainted with your ancestors' home and surroundings, we think you also will want to know more about the country your forefathers left - and also learn more about the Norwegian culture and way of life.
